In this article, we are going to talk about what to include in your “Name” field. This is a very simple but very important tip.
For starters, please don’t include your phone number or job title in your Name field.
Moreover, in the case that you are known by a nickname, make sure you use the same name you use when you introduce yourself to people in order to make it easier for people to find you instead of finding someone else. For example, if your name is Dimosthenis Koutoudis, but everyone knows you as Dennis Koutoudis, then use Dennis Koutoudis as your LinkedIn name.
If you wish to include a former name or nickname in your profile’s Name field, you can do so via the Former Name field option. This will be displayed on your Profile in parenthesis between your first and last name. If I wished to include my Former name on my profile, this is what my Name field would look like:
In order to Edit your Name field on your LinkedIn Profile:
1. Click the pencil icon on the right of your name in order to enter the “Edit” area for your Name field.
2. Insert your name, surname and Former name (if you feel necessary).
3. You have the option to make your Former name visible to only your Connections, your Network or Everyone.
4. When you are finished click “Save”.
That’s it!
